The TNT JV squad Sunday June 8th
The TNT JV squad continued to struggle last Sunday hosting a physical Rexdale Raider team under sweltering heat at Mel Mitchell Field falling 26-0.
Once again the injury bug reared its nasty head claiming TNT players by the second quarter while Rexdale struggled to find their hard gaining ground game.
Mark Anderson, Anthony Giangregorio and Jesse Derose combined with Johnathan Lillino and Julio Malpica controlled the front line and frustrate Rexdale.
At the half the TNT defense had stymied the visitors, down by a very small 12-0 deficit. While the defense held off the Raiders the JV offense continued to search for answers. Without key veterans TNT has asked many younger players to step up and contribute in key roles with limited success.
“Its easy to make excuses” said JV head coach Adam Ross. “Sure, we are growing our offense and maybe its a little slower than we’d like, but I have complete confidence in our guys to turn it around”.
Turning things around may be harder than expected with the late injury to TNT Quarterback Johnny Koolhauss, who at press time had an undisclosed injury and had no expected return time.
Sitting at 0-4 certainly wasn’t where the preseason pollsters had TNT, but at the halfway mark the group looks to make positive changes and head into the last half of the season optimistic.
